Who Is Eligible
The NEA Group Part D Program underwritten by Transamerica Life Insurance Company is available NEA members*, age 65 or older, entitled to Medicare Part A and/or enrolled in Medicare Part B, and live in the plan's service area. Your eligible spouse or domestic partner and surviving spouse is also eligible to enroll.
When To Sign Up
Most people enroll in a Medicare Part D Plan during their Initial Enrollment Period or the Annual Enrollment Period. The Initial Enrollment Period begins three months before turning age 65 and ends three months after turning age 65. Coverage can be effective when your Medicare enrollment is effective.
The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is the period each year that individuals enrolled in a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan may switch plans. This year the Medicare enrollment period is from October 15th through December 7th. However, the NEA Group Part D Program’s annual enrollment period will end on December 31, 2017. Enrollments will take eﬀect January 1 of the following year.
