As an NEA member, you can save significant money on the high costs of prescription drugs with the NEA Group Part D Program. This exclusive prescription drug coverage program has many valuable advantages. Whether you are purchasing Part D prescription coverage for the first time or you are looking for a better alternative, please consider the NEA Group Part D Program.
NEA members have two plan choices. The NEA Basic Plan is designed to provide basic coverage for a low monthly premium. The NEA Advanced Plan provides coverage for the first eligible prescription filled under the plan and does not have a deductible. Both plans offer competitive nationwide rates that are not available to the general public and provide more coverage for generics than standard plans.
Enjoy Nationwide Coverage
Coverage is available nationwide. You will be able to fill prescriptions at one of over 68,000 retail pharmacies across the country. You may also save money on certain prescriptions filled at select retail pharmacy chains which have preferred cost-sharing.
Who Is Eligible
The NEA Group Part D Program underwritten by United American Insurance Company is available NEA members*, age 65 or older, entitled to Medicare Part A and/or enrolled in Medicare Part B, and live in the plan's service area. Your eligible spouse or domestic partner and surviving spouse is also eligible to enroll.
When To Sign Up
Most people enroll in a Medicare Part D Plan during their Initial Enrollment Period or the Annual Enrollment Period. The Initial Enrollment Period begins three months before turning age 65 and ends three months after turning age 65. Coverage can be effective when your Medicare enrollment is effective.
The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is from October 15th through December 7th, 2015. This is also the time members already enrolled in Medicare Part D coverage may switch plans. Coverage becomes effective on January 1 of 2016 when you enroll in the AEP.
